Our school field came alive with enthusiasm and sporting spirit as pupils gathered to participate in our annual sports day. The grounds were filled with cheers and encouragement from staff and spectators as children across all year groups demonstrated superb sportsmanship, resilience, and personal determination in a range of traditional and athletic track-and-field events.

Precision, balance, and boundless energy on the track

The event featured a brilliant mix of classic races alongside athletic challenges that allowed every child to shine. Key highlights from the track included:

• The egg and spoon race: Pupils focused intently to maintain their balance while navigating the course, showing remarkable composure under pressure.

• The sprint: High-energy short-distance races saw children burst out of the starting blocks, pushing for personal bests in thrilling finishes.

• The sack race: Pure joy and tactical hopping filled the track as children worked hard to keep their footing and race toward the finish line.

Endurance and field skill demonstrations

In addition to the short track races, children tested their stamina and technique in longer athletic events, putting into practice the skills developed during physical education lessons at Roger Ascham Primary School.

• The long jump: Pupils focused on leap distance and landing technique, striving to push their personal limits.

• The long run: Demonstrating impressive physical endurance and pacing, participants tackled the longer track distance with steady resolve and strong encouragement from their peers.

Outstanding sportsmanship and community spirit
