Shields Up! Year 3 steps into Roman Britain

Year 3 brings the Roman conquest to life through immersive theatre and ancient battle tactics.
To bring our study of Roman Britain to life, Year 3 stepped back in time for an immersive afternoon with the Rainbow Theatre.
The children moved beyond the history books, taking on the roles of both Romans and Celts to explore the complexities of life in Roman Britain. From the bustling streets of Colchester to the resistance of the local tribes in Scotland, our young historians experienced the sights and sounds of the Roman conquest firsthand.
One of our highlights was working as a team to form the famous Tortuga (tortoise) shield formation to defend against incoming "attacks."
This hands-on experience has provided a fantastic foundation for our understanding of how the Roman Empire shaped Britain’s history, technology, and culture.
