A journey to the centre of the Earth

Year 5 explore the wonders of the Natural History Museum.

Year 5 pupils swapped the classroom for the grand halls of the Natural History Museum in London. This exciting visit was designed to bring our geography and science topics to life, providing the children with a hands-on look at the powerful forces that shape our planet.

The highlight of the day was an interactive workshop focused on tectonic activity. The children became junior geologists, investigating why the Earth’s crust moves and how these movements result in spectacular volcanic eruptions and tremors.

At Roger Ascham Primary School, we believe that learning outside the classroom is vital for sparking curiosity. Our children represented the school brilliantly, asking insightful questions and showing great enthusiasm for the natural world. From the towering dinosaur skeletons in the Hintze Hall to the shimmering minerals in the Earth galleries, it was a day to remember.
