Celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr at Roger Ascham Primary School

Our children shared traditions and memories in a vibrant Show-and-Tell event
On Monday 23rd March 2026, the halls of Roger Ascham Primary School were filled with festive spirit as we hosted our special Eid-ul-Fitr Shared Show-and-Tell. This celebration provided a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to share their home traditions, reflect on the values of the festival, and celebrate the rich diversity of our school community.
A showcase of creativity and culture
The children put an incredible amount of effort into their home research and creative projects. The classrooms were adorned with a variety of items brought in by the pupils, including:
- Handmade projects: Children were invited to be creative and made posters, booklets, cards, and drawings.
-
Traditional attire: Many children arrived at school wearing festive Eid clothes, colourful party outfits, or clothes representing their culture.
-
Photographs: Pupils shared pictures of family gatherings, decorations, and special meals.
-
Personal stories: Children prepared short "show-and-tell" presentations about how they celebrated at home or what they learned about Eid.
Community spirit and generosity
The event was made even more special by the presence of parents and guardians, who stayed to listen to the presentations. We were also incredibly grateful for the donations of traditional Eid treats shared in class, which helped create a truly festive atmosphere.
By following our strict health and safety guidelines—including our "strictly no nuts" policy—everyone was able to enjoy the celebrations safely. These moments of sharing are what make the Roger Ascham Primary School community so vibrant, welcoming, and connected.
