Our young leaders open the new trim trail

School council officially unveils our latest playground addition

The playground at Roger Ascham Primary School was filled with cheers, as we celebrated the official inauguration of our brand new trim trail. After weeks of watching the construction with great anticipation, our pupils finally saw the safety bunting come down and the adventure begin.

To mark this special occasion, the members of our school council took charge of the ceremony. They stood proudly at the entrance of the trail to cut the ceremonial ribbon, representing the voices and excitement of every child in the school.

Once the ribbon was cut, the school council pupils were the first to put the new equipment to the test. From wobbling balance beams to challenging climbing nets, they navigated the course with skill, demonstrating to the younger children how to use the trail safely and effectively.

The new installation includes:

  • Balance beams to improve core stability and focus.

  • Climbing frames to build upper-body strength.

  • Stepping stones to help the children develop coordination and rhythm.

This project was more than just adding new equipment; it was about creating a space where our pupils can challenge themselves physically while having fun with their friends. Outdoor play is a vital part of the day at Roger Ascham, and this trim trail provides the perfect environment for children to build confidence and resilience.

"It was so exciting to cut the ribbon! The trail is much harder than it looks, but it’s really fun to try and get to the end without falling off." — Year 6 School Council Member

We look forward to seeing all our pupils enjoying the trail during their break times and seeing who can complete the full circuit!
