The Eat or Heat project

Year 5 make a difference.
This year, Year 5 pupils at Roger Ascham Primary School continued our tradition of supporting Eat or Heat, a local charity helping families in need. Our children worked hard to raise awareness about the needs of others during the festive period.
The project began with pupils creating persuasive posters and delivering assemblies to inform the school about how to donate. The response from our community was incredible, with donation crates in every classroom and the school office quickly filling up.
Once collected, the children:
-
Counted and sorted almost 800 individual items.
-
Organised the data into tally charts and categories.
-
Prepared staples like pasta, soup, cereal, and canned goods for delivery.
Pupils, parents, and teachers recently delivered the donations to the charity. The volunteers were extremely grateful for the support and have invited our pupils to visit again to learn more about their vital work.
Year 5 would like to thank everyone who contributed to this project.
