Year 2 explore the history of travel at the London Transport Museum

Children from Roger Ascham Primary School journey to Covent Garden for a day of discovery

Our Year 2 children recently embarked on an exciting adventure across the capital to visit the London Transport Museum. Demonstrating great independence, the pupils successfully navigated their way to Covent Garden using a combination of a bus and two trains.

Once they arrived, the children stepped back in time to explore how people moved around London in the past, from horse-drawn carriages to the very first underground steam trains.

Bringing history to life

A particular highlight of the visit was a captivating workshop led by an amazing storyteller. The children were completely enthralled as they:

  • Listened to tales of how transport has changed over the centuries.

  • Engaged with historical artefacts that helped them imagine life in old London.

  • Took part in interactive sessions that sparked their curiosity and imagination.

The pupils represented Roger Ascham Primary School brilliantly throughout the journey and the museum visit. It was a fantastic way to bring their classroom learning to life through a real-world experience.
