Marathon Runners

Children in Year 1 to 6 took part alongside thousands of others, running a section of the London Marathon.

On Saturday, children from year 1 to year 6 ran alongside thousands of others in a 1 mile run (about 10 laps of our junior field and playground) around St James's Park. Juniors were allowed to run ahead and the infants ran alongside an adult. When we arrived at our pen, Joe Wicks was there to start our warm up, then we walked to the start line and off we went! The sun was shining down, which was both good and bad (no rain but it is much harder to run in the heat). All of the children ran off, with most pacing themselves really well. The event isn't about who finished first or last, it was about completing it. Although for the competitive, there were 431 children in our wave and 8 Roger Ascham children finished in the top 100, with the fastest 3 finishing in 28th (Bib number 27446, in 07:34), 29th (bib number 27445 in 07:40) and 31st (bib number 27454, in 07:43).

The spirit was incredible with the streets lined with people cheering us on, including parents with banners and Mrs Johnson!
