At Roger Ascham, we teach our children skills that enable them to embrace and utilise technology in a safe and responsible way.

We teach the children to be digitally literate and competent end-users of technology. They learn to become self-aware and discerning in their use of technology and when evaluating online content. Through promoting the positive use of technology, we are intent on creating a collaborative community of online users who are well-informed about how to protect themselves in a digital world.

We teach the pupils the fundamental principles of computer science through the creative process of computer programming. Pupils will learn how to design, write and debug programs that accomplish specific goals. Computing lessons will promote computational thinking and logical reasoning through which pupils will develop resilience, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

When learning about information technology, pupils will be taught how to use search technologies effectively. They will learn how to use a variety of software applications purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and present digital content. Through cross curricular planning, we help pupils to understand how these skills will be useful in subjects across the curriculum.

By the time they leave Roger Ascham, our pupils have the skills to be the best they can be in a digital world because they will be able to express themselves creatively through computer programming and develop their ideas through information and communication technology.
